I chose this meme for my first blog post because LeBron's face in this photo depicts the actual reality for his type of emotion on the court. As a basketball player, this meme related to me in many ways because of the emotional experience on the court that I can relate to as well. This meme also is very funny to many sports fans and viewers and that provides a reasonable explanation for why this particular meme is all over social media outlets. I have also noticed that many social media outlets constantly create LeBron memes and there are numerous ones that circulate the digital network. I am interested to see and learn throughout this class why certain sports figures, like LeBron James, continuously have memes created from their behaviors and statements that are supported by large audiences all over the world.

Refining memes

The specific theme I look to explore through Britney Griner is the gender stereotypes that are placed on female athletes because of their physical appearance and the style in which she dominates her sport. My research explores the theme of stereotypes in relation to gender. My proposed research question is should the physical appearance and dominance of a woman in her sport make her more of a man than a woman? I will study ten internet memes related too Britney Griner humored to be a male because of her physical appearance.
