   This was the Jay-z meme I chose last week for my blog. Throughout my findings for memes that have come about from this picture seem to refer to gender. As mentioned before Jay-z is an iconic figure, labeled one of the greatest rappers ever, extremely successful businessman, and is married to Beyonce. Making them one of the most powerful couples in the world. Jay-Z is known for his gangster style of rapping, once drug dealer before rapping, hard core New York rapper, street credibility and someone who stays out the spotlight to keep to himself. Jay-z on a jet ski shows him coming out of his comfort zone, doing things that people are not accustomed to see him doing.
   There are many factors that made this meme go viral. First of all, as exciting as jet skiing may be, Jay-z does not seem to be excited at all, expressing no emotion on his face which is the normal for him. Secondly, everybody knows that the idea to go jet skiing had to come from Beyonce since they were on vacation together at the time. Thirdly, Jay-z is rarely ever caught in the public being seen by paparazzi so out of all things he could have been caught doing, this was by far the least expected. Lastly, other photos taken of them show Beyonce smiling, enjoying herself as usual and to see Jay-z looking so miserable is just what everyone expected.
   One of the 6 P's mentioned by Shifman mentions in chapter 6 that relates to the meme I chose was "Positivity and (humor)." This meme brought out so much laughter to twitter, people all over the country were amused. The me.me's were rolling through, making people laugh, and plenty of entertainment. Another "P" that relates to the meme chosen was "prestige" meaning the more popular or famous the person in the meme is the more it will spread. Jay-z is one of the most famous people in the world, one of the first black billionaire's and recognizable by anybody.

Refining memes

The specific theme I look to explore through Britney Griner is the gender stereotypes that are placed on female athletes because of their physical appearance and the style in which she dominates her sport. My research explores the theme of stereotypes in relation to gender. My proposed research question is should the physical appearance and dominance of a woman in her sport make her more of a man than a woman? I will study ten internet memes related too Britney Griner humored to be a male because of her physical appearance. Memes will be selected based on female gender stereotypes related to athleticism, physical strength, appearance, that have to do with the female athletes. Specifically Britney Griner.
